There's a new homerun champion of the world . . . and it's Henry Aaron!

Huliq News is reporting that the major league baseball all time homerun record might be be officially restored to Hank Aaron, as Bonds' steroid use makes his homeruns illegitimate. MLB Commissioner Bud Selig is even now considering such a move.

As Selig is from Milwaukee and a personal friend of Aaron's we have good reason to think the move is likely. Not that personal reasons should affect his decision. What matters is the integrity and moral fiber of the game.

I hope commissioner bud Selig returns the record to Aaron. Integrity, honesty, and fair play matter. This is why Hank Aaron is a hero, and Bonds a mere disgrace.

Here's to the Hammer!

  1. As you know, Alex Rodriguez, the guy most think is going to surpass even Bonds record, came out on record accepting the blame and saying he took steroids. He was quickly forgiven by some and portrayed as a victim who buckled down in times of pressure. Selig thought about suspending him but most likely it won't happen since there were no drug policies in place in 2003 or before that.I wonder if Bonds would have taken the same approach as A-Rod when he was first implicated, maybe Selig wouldn't be talking about switching the record back to Aaron. Maybe we would be as forgiving as we have been to A-Rod, or even Giambi or Pettite. I feel that if anyone should be suspended or take the blame, it should be the team owners. They, along with Selig, allowed it to happen yet they are not held accountable. The government should grill ALL the owners from the Steroid Era and get some straight answers.

Amen to that! The owners sure are guilty here and need to be examined.

You also raise an interesting question about admitting to the wrong deed and thus winning forgiveness. I think that's a good topic to explore.

Interesting Hank Aaron is now on record claiming that the homerun title should NOT be returned to him. I don't, however, know why Aaron thinks this.

  3. Aaron is a proud man, and he will let the public and history be the judge on that record.
